In 1918 Yosemite National Park began issuing decals for visitors to stick on their windshields to show they paid the entrance fee. The stickers became so popular that the National Park Service had to discontinue them in 1940. The resulting 22 year history of the stickers provides a unique perspective of the national parks as they were becoming ever popular along with the rise of the automobile.
